Alexandra Petre
CEO
Alex is the CEO of Deep Sky, where she leads the deployment of breakthrough carbon removal technologies across a growing portfolio of commercial sites. She oversees all aspects of engineering, procurement, construction, and operations, working end-to-end — from facility design and cost optimization to full-scale execution. Under her leadership, Deep Sky’s teams collaborate across financing, sales, power, and storage to accelerate the company’s climate impact. Previously, Alex was COO at Bird, advancing micromobility across North America. She has also held roles at BlackRock in financial markets, at Accenture as an energy consultant, and in public service at the Treasury Board and the Embassy of Canada.

Fred Lalonde
Co-Founder
Fred is co-founder of Deep Sky and CEO and Co-Founder of Hopper, which sells billions of travel and travel financial services per year. Frederic previously co-founded Newtrade Technologies, which was acquired by Expedia in 2002.

Joost Ouwerkerk
CTO & Co-Founder
Joost is co-founder and CTO of Deep Sky, and former CTO of Hopper, the most downloaded travel app in North America and 50+ countries globally. An experienced technical leader who has partnered with Fred Lalonde for over 15 years, Joost is building the team, tech and infrastructure needed to scale.

Abdullah Alwazeer, P.Eng.
Storage
Abdullah Alwazeer, P.Eng., is vice-president of subsurface at Deep Sky. He is a senior technical and engineering executive with 25+ years of experience advancing energy and carbon storage projects across North America and the Middle East. He has held leadership roles at Shell, Suncor, and 44.01, with expertise in reservoir management, thermal recovery, drilling, and carbon sequestration. Abdullah has worked at the forefront of emerging environmental technologies, combining technical depth with commercial insight. He helped secure the Final Investment Decision for a major joint-venture expansion in Oman and led wells and reservoir teams for the world’s first solar-powered enhanced oil recovery project.

Charlie Renzoni
Carbon Markets
Charlie leads commercialization at Deep Sky through the sales, structuring and financing of our carbon removal projects, delivering the highest quality and integrity carbon removal products to our customers. With an original background in mechanical engineering, Charlie has focused his career on scaling products in emerging technology markets, recently serving as a fintech and climate investor at OMERS Ventures and as a management consultant at Accenture.

Gabrielle Paris
Legal
Gabrielle leads Deep Sky’s legal function, providing counsel, negotiating contracts, and supporting the team with all legal matters. An experienced VC lawyer, Gabrielle is very involved in the Montreal tech ecosystem and has represented many of the most promising venture backed companies. Her expertise spans the lifecycle of tech companies, from inception to liquidity event. Previously, she built the legal function at RenoRun and worked with startups at Fasken.

Guillaume Devaux
Strategic Partnerships
Guillaume drives partnerships with enterprises aiming to remain competitive and derisk their decarbonization journey in a climate-driven future. An MBA graduate of the University of South Australia, and a career spanning both corporate procurement and successful B2B markets growth at companies like L’Oreal, Uber in Australia, and Zoom in North America, Guillaume has consistently applied a high level of focus and energy to his work. His interest in climate originally stemmed from angel investments, which quickly evolved into a desire to contribute to solutions in a more impactful manner.

Jason Vanderheyden
Government Affairs & Policy
Jason has more than 15 years of experience in government affairs, public policy development, business development and strategic partnerships. An expert navigating complex policy issues, he has worked with hyper-growth startups, Becton Dickinson, Medtronic, General Electric and Toyota Canada.

Jose Acain
Engineering
Jose has over 15 years of experience driving innovation in disruptive technologies, from autonomous underwater vehicles to rockets and spacecraft. His career spans industry leaders such as SpaceX, NASA, Bird, and Volkswagen's Electronics Research Laboratory. Most recently, he co-founded an aerospace startup, AstroForge, where he spearheaded technology development as CTO to push the boundaries of space exploration.

Mathieu Bouchard
Government Affairs & Policy (QC)
Mathieu brings over 20 years of public and private sector experience. Previously a practicing lawyer, he then served as Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister and then as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Canadian Heritage. After leaving government, he was regional lead for the energy and natural resources sectors as well as on a professional services initiative for Indigenous businesses and communities at KPMG.

Pierre-Olivier leads Deep Sky’s capital projects, combining 17+ years of industrial project experience with expertise in capital raising and financing. He ensures large-scale climate projects are investment-ready, fully funded, and delivered from concept to operation with maximum impact.

Quentin Servais Laval
Finance & Operations
Quentin brings more than a decade of finance and operations experience to Deep Sky. Previously, he led Operations at Lithos Carbon and CDR.fyi. Quentin led teams in five countries with luxury giant LVMH, scaled up Instacart in Canada from 0 to 60% coverage in the country, and grew a tech-driven labor marketplace through two rounds of funding. He currently sits on the board of AFEN (French Association for Negative Emissions).

Prior to joining HOOPP, Annesley was Executive Vice-President, Strategy and Corporate Development and President, Power and Energy Solutions at TC Energy, leading corporate strategy, development, and capital allocation, as well as power generation and natural gas storage. Previously, she was Executive Vice-President and Global Head of Infrastructure at OMERS, overseeing a C$34 billion portfolio. She also held roles at SNC-Lavalin in engineering and project management.

Previously, he was a managing director at CIBC Capital Partners and co-founder of the Loyalty Group Inc. (now called LoyaltyOne), the parent company of the AIR MILES Reward Program. He has also served on numerous boards including as chair of BDC.
